GUIDELINES FOR PROCTORED EXAMS
When a student needs to take a paper exam, he or she will be required to make arrangements in advance for the exam to be proctored (supervised). This document contains the procedures for Alabama School of Real Estate students to take a proctored exam. Questions on the policy or procedures for proctored exams may be directed to Alabama Real Estate School by e-mail at asregroup_2000@yahoo.com (Email us: we will be happy to answer any questions!)
Approval Students are responsible for securing an approved institution and proctor for the exam.
Examination Proctor's Qualifications
The person shall not be related to the student by blood or marriage and may not be engaged in any association (personal or business) with the student.
The proctor may be selected from the following professions:
1. Alabama Real Estate School reserves the right to verify a proctor's identity, require additional proof of eligibility, or require the selection of a different proctor.
2. Comply with any payment schedule that may be required by your approved proctor or testing center.
3. The following guidelines will be sent to your proctor to ensure proper testing conditions:
Before the exam
- Arrange a time for the student to take the exam
- Carefully read the instructions sent with the exam and ensure the directions are clear.
- Ask the student to show identification such as driver's license, student ID card, etc.
- Be in the room while the student is taking the exam or within line of sight of the student.
- Instruct the student of any specifics pertaining to the exam. Information about the use of notes, texts, or calculators can be found on the examination sheet
Administering the exam
- Find a quiet area where the exam can be taken with little distraction
- Allow the student to bring only those materials needed for the exam.
- Set watch or timer for the exact amount of time allotted for the exam. When the time expires collect the exam from the student whether or he/she is finished or not.
- The examination must be completed in one sitting. Unless a student is taking two exams and has received approval from the school administrator to take the two test at separate times.
Following the exam
- Complete all proctor forms, including signature of test administrator certification form.
- As a convenience to the student, the proctor is allowed to fax a copy of the answer sheet and the Test Administrator Certification sheet. (NOTE: fax number: 407-650-3176) Faxing does NOT take the place of mailing the original paperwork to our school. If we do NOT receive the original paperwork from the proctor we can NOT report the test results to the Real Estate Commission.
- The proctor will place the exam, score sheet, and test administrator certification form in the enclosed envelope and place in the mail. IF YOU USE SOME TYPE OF EXPRESS DELIVERY SERVICE WE CANNOT BE RESONSIBLE FOR MIS-DELIVERIES. WE USE ONLY THE U.S. Postal Service. Do not allow the students to mail the exam him/her self.
- Do not read or discuss the exam with the student.
The proctor administers the exam to you and then sends the entire exam package back to us for grading. We then notify you of the results. This is a process that we have used for years successfully. * Students can pay an additional minimum $40.00 fee to have the exam sent by express mail.
